Introduction

The RaPDA Palm OS interface program was written to aid in database management away from the office. If you are using RapidLink you can link your Palm OS device to your RapidLink Database through the Palm cradle connection

Requirements

In order to run the Palm OS with RapidLink, you must have:

- Windows 2000 or XP environment
- RapidLink Palm OS HotSync manager software
- Palm OS HotSync cradle

Palm OS

There are a variety of Palm Powered devices manufactured by several companies. They are multi-functional personal organizers in the form of handhelds and smartphones. Thousands of software titles have been developed for these devices, making them very popular and versatile. For more information on Palm devices, you can visit their website at http://www.palmone.com or http://www.palmsource.com.

RapidLink Interface Functions

The program written to interface between the Palm and RapidLink has several functions currently available, with more being developed today. With the latest version of the Palm interface, you can perform the following functions:

Store Account Database

By syncing your Palm with your PC, your basic account information is loaded into the Palm for quick viewing of Account Name, System Number, Address, Phone Number, Panel Type, Zone Descriptions, Passcodes, Dealer Notes and Account Activity. This data is ideal for an On-Call Technician, Service Technician, or someone who needs 24 hour access to your customer database. Built-in search functions make it simple to quickly locate information.

Web Interface

Rapid Response has developed a mobile web site for Palm OS devices that feature wireless internet capabilities. From the mobile web site you can search your account database, retrieve all account information, view account activity and place accounts on or off no-action status. You also have the ability to read your dealer messages that have been taken by Central Station operators.

Upcoming Developments

Just like RapidLink itself, our Palm OS interface functions are developed "in house" at Rapid Response. Rapid Response's Software Development team is always striving for the best in systematic improvement and developing additional features.
