AVS-01 - Rapid Response Monitoring Services

AVS-01: The Alarm Validation Scoring Standard

AVS-01 is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) compliant standard developed by The Monitoring Association to enhance professional monitoring services.

Delaying Deployment Was
Simply Not An Option.

On January 15, 2024 following two years of preparation and four months of beta testing, Rapid Response Monitoring fully deployed AVS-01. Just a few months later, we became the first third-party Monitoring Center to earn the Underwriters Laboratories UL-CAVS listing. Communicating AVS-01 scores to authorities during dispatch results in enhanced protection, reduced calls for service, increased customer satisfaction, and a competitive advantage for our Dealers. For these reasons, we dedicated substantial resources to put it in place and secure the UL listing as soon as possible.

What Is
AVS-01?

The Alarm Validation Scoring Standard (AVS-01) was developed by The Monitoring Association in association with public safety and law enforcement officials to make dispatch for burglary alarms more efficient and safe for the authorities.

AVS-01’s accurate scoring and classification of intrusion alarms improves situational awareness and allows Specialists to relay a more comprehensive depiction of what is happening at the premises.

When an alarm comes in, our proprietary monitoring software, Triangulum AI, automatically analyzes alarm data and assigns a priority level. This score is relayed by Monitoring Specialists during dispatch and used to convey the probability of a threat at the home or business.

Standardizing Threat Validation

Evaluating alarm information and transforming it into measurable data points has enabled our industry to create a standard that scores the alarm based on severity. Priority levels are determined automatically by our proprietary monitoring platform, Triangulum AI. They are based on the amount of relevant data received, including video, audio, or additional information gathered from smart technologies.

Alarms with little or no further information begin at Level 1. The alarm level escalates when/if the data confirms a presence at the premises, and only reaches Level 4 when a threat to life is confirmed.

A Critical Need For Our Industry

Law enforcement agencies are severely understaffed and overwhelmed with calls for dispatch. Customers are becoming burdened with high fines for false alarms. Some municipalities won’t even respond without a confirmed person on-site. The Alarm Validation Scoring Standard is exactly what our industry needs to legitimize alarm data, increase law enforcement capacity, and ensure your customers get the response they deserve.
